Recognizing the scarcity of Flow props in India, Yacobeh took matters into his own hands, crafting poi and distributing them among friends. This marked the inception of IndieFlow, driven by a mission to promote Flow Arts awareness nationwide.
The community flourished as fire jams on Yacobeh’s terrace with sarena evolved into larger gatherings, attracting aspiring performers and enthusiasts alike. IndieFlow's presence grew through choreographed shows and collaborations with venues and festivals across Bangalore.
Commitment to their vision led Yacobeh and Sarena to leave their jobs, forming the fire troupe Pyromantix and pioneering performances that showcased Indian talent in Flow Arts. Traveling extensively, they introduced Flow Arts to new audiences in South India.
Emphasising the wellness aspects of Flow Arts, IndieFlow expanded its outreach through workshops, festivals, and the inaugural IndieFlow Festival—a celebration of creativity, music, and community.
Despite challenges posed by the pandemic, IndieFlow persisted, launching its online shop to make high-quality props accessible nationwide. Virtual events and workshops kept the community engaged, culminating in the IndieFlow Studio opening its doors.
Innovation thrived as IndieFlow introduced custom orders and partnered with Jhatkaa.Org to use Flow Arts as a medium for social advocacy. With COVID restrictions easing, in-person workshops resumed alongside the introduction of the FLUID program at the Studio.
Expansion continued with the launch of UV props and collapsible hoops, alongside increased performances and workshops nationwide, including a notable presence at festivals and venues in Goa.
IndieFlow continued to evolve, introducing new products like the 16mm hoops and hosting regular workshops and events. Innovations like pyrotechnics and flow fashion shows showcased the dynamic spirit of the community.
